Our clients range from institutions to high-net-worth individuals to everyday families. We strive to bring our best to each client type.

We are always looking to add intellectually curious, tenacious, honest, open-minded individuals to our team so that, together, we can win for our clients. We invite you to explore our summer internship and associate programs that can introduce you to our culture, top-caliber people and global asset-management capabilities, and where you can begin to grow to your full potential.

An In-Depth Look

Each year, we welcome some of the best and brightest people to our offices as summer interns and Associates. Each of our campus hires is seen as a critical part of our team, and we are invested in equipping them with the skills, knowledge and relationships they need to be successful today and in the future.

If you are a college student who excels academically, we invite you to apply for a paid, 10-week summer internship or to join one of our Associate programs. These opportunities are highly selective, and offer the experience of working in a variety of roles at AllianceBernstein. Internships are open to third-year students, and we offer successful interns an opportunity to enter our full-time Associate program after they graduate; fourth-year students can apply for full-time Associate positions.

Our people are honest, open, confident and collaborative. If these characteristics speak to you, you’re sure to be a great fit at AllianceBernstein. Over time, we have found that these attributes have been the cornerstone of our commitment to clients and their best interests.

Along with our team, you’ll also meet talented and energetic students like yourself, who are eager to build a career in our industry. Throughout your internship, we will sponsor special events where you can meet our senior executives and network with your colleagues and fellow interns while learning more about what it is like to be a part of AllianceBernstein.

What We Offer

Our summer internships are paid, 10-week, full-time opportunities that run from June through August. We have openings in New York City; Chicago; Los Angeles; San Antonio; San Francisco; Washington, DC; White Plains, New York; London; and Hong Kong. Often, we invite successful interns to join our full-time Associate program after graduation.

What You Need

You can apply if you are a third-year college student with a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or better. For Sanford C. Bernstein Research internships, first-year MBAs are eligible. We generally prefer students majoring in business, finance, economics, math, computer science or engineering, but we consider strong students across all disciplines.

We have found that an individual’s major plays less a role in their success than specific characteristics and skills. We look for people who have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and who excel in both verbal and written communication. You should also enjoy working as part of a team, be detail oriented and able to multitask, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

You must be a US citizen or permanent resident of the US in order to apply for all internships except our technology and Sanford C. Bernstein internships.

Launch Your Career

Our Associate positions let you launch your career in a way that enables you to figure out what you really want to do, add to your skill set and build invaluable relationships while having an impact on the firm. Throughout our various businesses, we offer several Associate programs that allow you to learn while actively participating as a valued team member. You can rotate through several assignments in one of our businesses, or you can concentrate your efforts working with one of our investment research or sales teams. Many of our programs are designed for recent college graduates, although some require a few years of experience or an advanced degree.

What We Offer

For recent graduates, our Rotational Associate programs let you gain experience and expertise over a two-year period in our equities,
fixed-income, multi-asset solutions, sell-side, technology and operations, and client group businesses (client service, product development, product management and marketing). We also have Associate programs in our Wealth Management Group at Sanford C. Bernstein.

Rotational Associates

Our Rotational Associate program is designed to give you deep exposure to a key area of our business as you work in various roles within that department. This allows you to build a deep and broad experience in that business. It is an incredible opportunity to learn an area of our business from multiple perspectives, and it gives you the chance to think about where you would like to focus your long-term career. We will work closely with you as you complete your four rotations within the business of your choice.

Private Client Associate Program

Private Client Associates work in client-facing roles with a team of Financial Advisors for Bernstein Global Wealth Management. This role offers unparalleled immersion into all aspects of the wealth- management industry. This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to partner with Financial Advisors on all aspects of client servicing, including account maintenance, asset allocation, portfolio analytics, trust and estate planning, retirement planning, and core/discretionary planning for high-net-worth clients and prospects.

As a Private Client Associate, you will participate in a three-phase training program that enables you to master your professional skills, build core and advanced knowledge of investment-management topics, and work closely with your manager to develop an individualized career path.

Sanford C. Bernstein Associate Positions

Our world-class sell-side business offers Associate positions in both equity research and institutional sales.

Associates in research partner with Senior Analysts who are seasoned industry experts and who provide analysis and insight about their industries and publicly traded companies to major institutional investors. Associates are part of small, nonhierarchical teams with a high level of responsibility and are empowered to make important contributions to our published research. Research Associates become adept at in-depth analysis of an industry and of companies, learn a rigorous level of financial analysis, build complex financial models, and contribute to our highly differentiated written product. Associates build relationships with company managements as well as with sales, trading and institutional clients.

Associates in sales acquire expertise in multiple equity products and industries while working with our leading research product, modeling tools and best-in-class trade-execution teams. They interact directly with key investment decision makers at institutional clients that include mutual funds, hedge funds, and advisors managing pensions and endowments. Sales Associates have a high level of responsibility and make important contributions to a sales group organized around client locations and investment mandates.

Roles in research and sales offer high visibility in a collegial culture where members thrive on intellectual challenge and rigor. Growth prospects include promotion to Senior Associate positions with increased responsibility, careers in investment management and graduate school.

Sanford C. Bernstein Senior Associate Positions

Senior Research Associates make significant contributions to our highly differentiated research product and the distribution of our ideas and analysis to our institutional clients. They become thought leaders in their respective industries by working on a team with a Senior Analyst who is typically a seasoned industry veteran. Senior Associates are crucial to the commercial impact of our research franchises, and they develop their own relationships with our institutional clients, as well as with their sales and trading counterparts. They produce deep analysis of industry and companies under coverage, and build a wide range of relationships with management teams and industry networks. Growth prospects include promotion to Vice President and Analyst positions with increased responsibility and senior-level careers in investment management.

What You Need

Although requirements differ, we generally consider college graduates with a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or better. For the Sanford C. Bernstein Senior Research Associate program, second-year MBA students are eligible. We welcome applicants of all undergraduate majors, but the type of work we do tends to attract graduates with degrees in business, finance, economics, math, computer science or engineering.

You will need strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with advanced verbal and written communication skills. You should also enjoy working as part of a team, be detail oriented, and be able to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

You must also be a US citizen or permanent resident of the US unless you are applying for our Technology Associate or Sanford C. Bernstein program, which provides visa sponsorship.
