It’s Never Too Early To Start Planning For College
|
Saving For College Is One Thing, Planning For College Is Another
College may seem far off in the distant future, but it’s not too soon to encourage your child to give some thought to his or her academic and career interests. In these years it is not realistic to ask them to commit to a specific college or career, but they can begin to consider their interests and to align them with general career goals. Questions like these can help get the thinking started:
“What are your favorite subjects in school?”
“What do you like to do after school?”
“What do you want to do when you grow up?”
The middle school years are a time to get the thinking started, and by high school there are certainly more important steps to be taken. Consider visiting some of the online resources available that are designed to help your child see how his or her interests could translate into a career.*
