Michael G. Howard is a Senior Vice President and Portfolio Manager who has managed special situation equities and one of AB’s alternatives funds since 2010. He rejoined the firm in 2009 to lead the investment analyst team for the US Treasury’s Capital Purchase Program mandate, for which AB has been the lead advisor to the US Treasury. Previously, Howard was a senior associate analyst in the firm’s sell-side research business, where he covered US large-cap banks and the specialty finance sector for three years. In between these roles, he worked as an analyst covering the finance sector for a hybrid asset manager, spanning long-only and long-short strategies. Howard has over 20 years of experience in the financial-services industry, including experience working with senior management teams and private equity firms as a strategy consultant at Bain & Company and First Manhattan Consulting Group. He holds a BS in operations research and industrial engineering from Cornell University and an MBA from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, both with distinction.
