Awards Season Proves Fruitful for AllianceBernstein
March 1, 2008
Oscar fever may have gripped Hollywood last week, but all eyes in London were firmly fixed on Global Pensions magazine’s annual awards dinner, held at the Grosvenor Park Hotel on February 21.
The night brought double success for AllianceBernstein, with the firm winning not only the award for Equities Manager of the Year, but also Specialist Equities Manager, Claude Chene, head of UK and Irish Institutions, was on hand to collect both awards in front of a table of clients that the firm had invited to the dinner. “It was especially gratifying to receive these awards in front of so many of our clients,” he said.
Competition was stiff, with BlackRock, BNPP IP, Invesco, Majedie Asset Management, T. Rowe Price and Wellington Management also nominated in the Equities Manager of the Year category. Other nominees in the Specialist Equities Manager category were Charlemagne Capital, Halbis Capital Management, Los Angeles Capital Management, Nomura Asset Management and SouthernSun Asset Management.
The firm’s double triumph was particularly satisfying as the judging panel was made up of leading international industry figures. On the panel were senior figures from a number of our prominent clients, including CalPERS and the Public Employee Retirement System of Idaho, as well as investment consultants, including Mercer partner Andy Barber and Towers Watson director of investment manager research Jeffrey Nipp. The panel selected winners from short lists drawn up from Global Pensions’ reader survey.
