Jonathan Berkow: Sydney, you've been tracking the European insurance flow market for years, and I heard you recently created an agent to help you with that process. How's it going?
Sydney Kyne: It's going really well. So insurance regulators post their flow data in these newsletters that could be in German, Italian, French, and historically I've been spending a lot of time translating those documents and then finding the numbers that I needed to update our proprietary database. Could easily eat up an entire morning.
JB: And so how did the agent help with that process?
SK: So the agent's able to pull in the newsletter directly, translate it, and then extract the flow data that we need and help more automatically populate our proprietary database. I had to train the agent a bit on the language that regulators and insurance companies use, but now it can do the loop in a few minutes.
JB: So what does it open up for you?
SK: So now instead of spending my time just collecting the data, I can spend more time on what it actually implies and analyzing it. That's the part where judgment matters, and now that's where I'm spending more of my time.
