Sharlyn Harper is an Assistant Vice President and Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) Specialist at AllianceBernstein (AB). In this role, she is responsible for managing the firm’s global Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), designing and delivering firmwide D&I training programs and special events, and developing a firmwide D&I digital strategy, and is involved in the firm’s diversity recruitment efforts aimed at enabling more effective access to diverse emerging talent. In 2016, Harper launched AB’s first Sophomore Summer Leadership Program, focused on providing underrepresented populations in financial-services exposure to the industry through a rigorous nine-week rotational program. The program has successfully led to year-over-year increases in the diversity makeup of AB’s junior internship and full-time Associate programs. Additionally, she oversees a number of the firm’s key D&I strategic partnerships, such as the Cristo Rey Network’s Corporate Work Study Program, which helps students gain real-world corporate experience, and supports the firm’s participation in the Thurgood Marshall College Fund Leadership Institute, an award-winning national program aimed at developing the leadership skills of a carefully curated group of students from the 47 publicly supported historically black colleges and universities in the US. Prior to joining AB, Harper spent five years at Deutsche Bank, where she handled client accounts within Global Trade Finance Operations. She holds a BBA from Skidmore College and is on the board of the Tennessee Diversity Consortium.
