Policy Advocacy
Policy Advocacy
We engage with governments, regulators and other drivers of public policy when we believe it is in our clients’ best interests. These engagements take the form of comment letters, appearances at formal meetings of regulatory bodies, and direct engagement with key government stakeholders. Engagements often center on investment impacts or stewardship concerns related to existing or proposed regulatory changes, including changes to share classes, reporting requirements or the treatment of ESG risks.
Here is a sample of policy advocacy activities related to ESG and stewardship:
- A survey requested by a member of the National Assembly of South Korea and the Financial Supervisory Service regarding financial institutions’ awareness of climate risk and how climate risk is being addressed in their operations or investment processes
- An engagement through the ESG Working Group of the Australian Financial Services Council with the Australian Treasury on climate-related financial disclosures
- Being selected as one of 10 industry members to discuss the feasibility of Taiwan’s proposed Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) reporting obligations, climate-change scenario-analysis disclosure and Scope 3 calculations with the Securities Investment Trust & Consulting Association (SITCA)
